About the Series

Hong Kong has seen a great interest in Yoga recently. Busy health professionals may not have the time to join regular classes or even feel confused in face of a large number of different styles and approaches to Yoga.

The Centre on Behavioral Health has invited a highly acclaimed Yoga Master, Swami Vidyanand to specially design and conduct a 10-session course best suited for everyday urban living in Hong Kong to deal with the stresses and challenges that block us from living a full and balanced life.

Centre on Behavioral Health offers two Yoga courses during lunch hour: The Yoga of Transformational Living and Transformational Yogic Healing.

Course I - The Yoga of Transformational Living

This course in "They Yoga of Transformational Living" trains participants in simple yogic exercises and mantra chanting for the body, emotions, mind and spirit that they can integrate into their daily living - so as to live in balance and harmony within themselves and with others.

In addition to the theoretical concepts behind the Science of Yoga, the course emphasises the practical aspects by empowering participants to put the methods to daily use and directly experience the benefits.

The course is open to all levels.

Course II - Transformational Yogic Healing

This course takes an in-depth look at Chakras or Energy centres in the body and the problems (physical, mental and emotional), that are associated with the imbalance of energy in each centre. It is believed that most problems are due to unexpressed energy stagnant in the chakras, leading to tightness, pressure and eventually blockages in the flow of energy. The focus would be on learning techniques to relax, cleanse and awaken the pure energy in each chakra and facilitate its movement, to enable healing. The techniques would include asanas (yogic postures), pranayama (yogic breathing), bandha (yogic locks) and mantra (sound).

Although this course is open to all levels, for those with no exposure to yoga, it would be beneficial to enrol for the Course in Transformational Living first. The course in Transformational Healing serves as a natural progression from the Course in Transformational Living.
